It’s Miami week.
Boston College players learned last week firsthand what happens when you provide an already angry opponent with spectacular bulletin board material. The Eagles were pounded 51-7 by the Noles at the Doak, with senior QB EJ Manuel honored as ACC Offensive Back of the Week. Manuel was 27 for 34 for 439 yards and four touchdowns, setting a career passing record.
This week also saw the release of the first BCS rankings of the season – and unfortunately for the Seminoles, 5 of 6 computer polls don’t even rank Florida State.
But none of that matters right now, because it’s Miami Week. There’s WRI, WR2, Stanford Samuels pummeling Roscoe Parrish and more instant highlights than you can imagine in this storied rivalry.
- Florida State is a 17.5-point favorite over Miami.
- DID YOU KNOW: The last time Miami won a home game against Florida State (2004)…
- The No. 1 song was “Goodies” by Ciara feat. Petey Pablo.
- Gas was less than $2
- EJ Manuel was in middle school 14 years old.
The Greater New Orleans Seminole Club will hold its game watch at Down the Hatch (1921 Sophie Wright Place, in the Garden District). I am challenging each of you who attends to bring at least five canned goods or dry food items.
Please help us collect 1,000 pounds of food between now and November 17 to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank through the second annual ACC Food Fight. (After all, we cannot possibly let Clemson win, right?)
