FSU ranked #23 in latest AP poll; thoughts on FSU-Miami
On paper, Virginia ought to have won. In fact, lots of Vegas oddsmakers and sports pundits picked them to upset the Noles.
And AP poll voters rewarded the Noles for a fantastic road win yesterday – coming into this week’s juggernaut primetime game gainst Miami, we’re now ranked #23.
Here are some interesting stats and notes to ponder (see what I did there there? Eh?) during FSU-UM Week:
–Both teams are undefeated in ACC play and ranked in the AP poll. This is the first time both teams are ranked since 2006.
-The defense has made a massive and marked improvement (the hideous showing against OU notwithstanding). Through five games in 2010, the defensive line has amassed 17.5 sacks. Last year? The line had 6 sacks THE ENTIRE SEASON.
-Miami QB Jacory Harris may have a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder. Ouch.
-Jimbo Fisher is still looking for that first marquee win as head coach of the Seminoles. Saturday – when the Noles travel to Miami to play the Hurricanes – will mark his 45th birthday. What a solid present an upset win (though unlikely) would be, right?
On a completely unrelated note, Buster Posey’s late homer in yesterday’s Giants victory against the Padres clinched the NL West for San Francisco. So my question is: who should be the NL Rookie of the Year?
And finally, predictions for Saturday?
